When Models are Too Tall for a Dress

These pictures are from the Amanda Lew Kee show at LG Fashion Week in Toronto.   Several pieces in Amanda's Spring/Summer 2011 collection feature dresses in this length, which would work better on shorter women than the 5'11"ish models.  I know they say that clothes "hang better" on tall people, but this is, in my opinion, ridiculous.  I realize the model is wearing leggings/tights in the first picture, but since they are close to her enough to her natural skin colour, it is telling the viewer that what she's wearing is meant to be a dress rather than a long shirt.  Sorry, but it doesn't look good in this case.

From Alterations Needed: Industry Standard Model Looking Ridiculous

I thought I'd like to draw your attention to THIS POST from Alterations Needed. Basically, what she is saying is that the model looks like an idiot because the pants are too short (they aren't supposed to be cropped/ankle pants - they're a PETITE LENGTH!) It's really a WTF situation here, don't you think?

By the way, I sent Gilt Groupe and email about this. Will let you know what they tell me (if they tell me anything).
