October Shorty Stories Survey Results

October question was: In the September issue of Petite Personal Shopper, it was mentioned that petite clothes are rarely photographed on (petite) models. Instead, they are usually product shots or tall models in "regular" sample sizes. Even when petite models are used, they're usually close to "average height" (i.e. 5'3" or 5'4") Do you think that's right?

77.8% of you said : No! I want to see petite clothes on TRUELY PETITE MODELS (i.e. shorter than 5'4")

6.7% of you said: Petites, please, but taller petite women...maybe even average height...no taller than 5'6" though.

2.2% of you said: Yes, it's fine. Clothes look better on taller, skinnier people, so it's either the tall models or product shots.

8.9% of you said: Well, as long as you try the clothes on and they look good, it should be fine.

4.4% of you said: It doesn't matter. I don't buy petites anyway

What do you think of the results? Surprised? Not surprised? Not that it's ever going to happen, but I'm hoping that blogs, websites, surveys, etc about the need for petites and other "non-standard" sizing will generate enough talk that media will truly cover it (in other words, not in a Best Way to Dress Your Figure type story.) Though we''ll probably have to wait until someone else takes over US Vogue. As I've said before, this isn't going to happen under Anna Wintour.

November question: Why don't you think the fashion and retail industry understand the need for petites?
