37% said that you mostly buy pants/bottoms

7% buy tops

10% buy dresses

33% buy EVERYTHING in petites!

13% of you don't purchase petites (I'm assuming you're of average height or taller??)

0% chose other

Resort/Pre Spring Clothing 2009

If you check out Banana Republic or J.Crew, you'd see some some resort/pre-spring clothes out. Many of the outfits are available in petite sizes (though J.Crew, as usual has a smaller selection). Check back in a few days for more details, including my faves!

Poll Results for September: Boycotting Fashion

Last month's question: Would you consider boycotting fashion brands that do not make petites?

31% said: Yes, it's the only way to get fashion and media attention!

16% said: Maybe, I'll have to think about this.

25% said: No, it's not going to work, because the industry doesn't care!

18% said: Wait, if I boycott shopping, would I still have anything to wear?

9% said: Other

Do you agree with the results? Why or why not?

Personally, I'd love to start a boycott, but I can't do it alone. Would anyone be interested in joining me?

This month's question: Have you been sized out?

An Email from Debbie on being under 5 feet

I received the following e-mail from a reader named Debbie recently. Debbie is 4'10".:

I am has they put it a short statured woman.I am 45 years old and always struggled with my height.Mainly because i was alot shorter than my sisters and brother. Now i came from average sized parents.

MUM-------5'8
DAD-------5'8
Me--------4'10
Y.SISTER--5'9
Y.SISTER--5'8
Y.BROTHER-6'2

Now I was the oldest out of all of us and I couldn't handle it having to watch my sisters and brother outgrow me. I couldn't wear none of my sisters clothes without cutting about 6 ins off them. I apparently got my height from my grandmother. She was 5'0 so she even had a good couple of ins. on me. When I was younger I had to stick with clothes in the childrens dept while my sisters could go anywhere. I must admit that the choice is alot better than years ago there are alot more shops to choose from. I did buy a pair of trousers from next and they had to have 8 ins off and that was their short length. My mum has always altered my clothes which helps alot.I do remember ordering uniform from the bank when I was working there and when it came to measuring me nothing fitted. I had to take the whole lot home for my mum to alter. I did mention if anyone else had the problem only to be told no. I mean I ain't the only person who is this short, surely. The nearest I saw to my height was a woman who was 5'0. She said her clothes had to be altered as well.

I mean it's not nice being this height and having to wear kids' clothes has well. I don't know if there are any people as short has me on this website. I would like to know what they do when buying clothes.

My aunt is quite short 4'11 though and she has the same trouble has me so sometimes we shop together which is nice. I have rather large feet like a size 6 whereas my aunt has small feet she is only a size 1 (Cynthia's note: UK Size 1??). She has it harder than me buying shoes which is a pain sometimes. Let me have your thoughts is there are rather short people like me.

So any readers shorter than 5'0"? If so, what kind of experiences have you had? Do you have advice for Debbie?
