Petites and selection availability

It bothers me to no end at the lack of good selection when it comes to petite sizes. And this isn't just style and colours. You can also have issues with missing pieces! For example, I recently bought a skirt from Banana Republic. It's supposed to be part of a suit, but guess what? The skirt was available in petites (at the stores, anyway), but NOT THE JACKET! Hello! If you're going to bring one part of the suit, you need to bring the other, ESPECIALLY IF IT'S AVAILABLE (I checked online, the jacket exists in petites.) Sure, the jacket could have come in, but just disappeared quickly, but how can that be when there were still tons of skirts left? Also, I work near that store, so I pretty much walk by and even go in at least two or three times a week. I never saw the jacket there. I also don't think it could have been sold in an hour. It's not part of a one-off designer collection, so there's no way an H&Mesque madhouse could occur (anyone excited about the Cavalli collection this year?)! You may ask me why I didn't get it online if it's available there. Well, I'm in Canada. No delivery across the boarder, and more recently, no non-US credit cards. In any case, it's really silly of them to have one piece and not the other in the store. It should be both or nothing. They'd never do that for "regular" sizes. Has this ever happened to you?
