Lula Lu Lingerie Supports Breast Cancer Awareness Month

It's October and pink ribbons supporting breast cancer awareness month are all over the place. However, instead of pink ribbons, Lula Lu Lingerie will donate a portion of the sales of their pink Kaylen convertable bra and bikini bottoms to Save the Tatas breast cancer awareness foundation.

The bra, which is lightly lined, is available in size 30AA to 36A and can be worn with or without straps and retails at $50 US. The bottoms come in small, medium and large and is $26. Both the bra and panties are available on Lula Lu's website.

Stuart Weitzman Stores Coming to Toronto!

A pair of Stuart Weitzman wedges from 2008

According to this Toronto Life article, Stuart Weitzman will be opening its first Ontario store at the Eaton Centre in August (there are already two stores in Quebec). I am extremely excited as this line is one of few which carries uber-tiny sizes. As a size 5, it is very difficult for me to find shoes. Though some people have suggested that I buy kids' sizes, most "grown-up" styles are not available in kiddie wear. Kids' shoes just don't look grown-up enough, especially for a professional woman. Besides, how many children's brands have proper pumps? Stuart Weitzman makes gorgeous work-appropriate shoes which translate well for a night out in town.

The shoes available in the store will include ones that are not found at other places like Holt Renfrew and Brown's, such as the bridal line. Price range will be the same, of course, in the high 200s and up. In addition to shoes, Stuart Weizman also sells handbags. However, the bags are, for the most part, more office or formal related than "fun." But then again, so are the shoes. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to August. Details to exact opening date to come. Stay tuned!

I HATE Bra Shopping....

Small sizes are hard to find in Toronto. Weird, since there are plenty of small-framed women in town. A shop that has a very good reputation supposedly carried a brand that I liked. When I got there, they said that the bras from that brand didn't fit very well. Ummmmm....maybe because the ladies you've recommended them on weren't the right type of frame? The company fits smaller frames - if you're a 32A in a more mainstream brand, chances are, you'll be taking a 34 band with that particular brand. It is MADE for smaller-framed women, and one of the only a few brands that sell in North American stores that have band sizes under 32.

A friend of mine said that they seem to focus more on larger ladies. Sure, there are probably more people who're bigger, but small women shouldn't be left out. We already have to go through issues of people calling small-framed figures "pre-pubescent" sometimes. Don't you think we deserve lingerie to make us feel like a woman??!!

My New Shoes

Shoes from Chie Mihara

The white thing on top (on the left shoe) is called a "halter." It helps keep my feet in!

I went shoe shopping yesterday and bought a pair of Chie Mihara shoes. Her shoes were still a tad bit big on me (due to my narrow feet - at least the guy at the store said my feet were narrow. I always thought that they were normal in front, but skinny at the back), so I not only got insoles for them, but also "halters" - stickers which go on top of the shoe to prevent my feet from slipping out. These shoes are great, and I can't wait to wear them when the weather gets warmer!

Back from Hong Kong

I was in Hong Kong for the past week and a half, mostly visiting family. We did end up doing a bit of shopping, and I ended up getting two pairs of shoes. For those of us with small feet, shoe shopping is AMAZING! Most department stores start at a size 4 1/2, sometimes even 4, so if you're like me (with size 5 feet), finding a good pair of shoes is much easier than in North America. Clothing-wise, there are more small sizes available, but if you're size 0, then it's still difficult. I'd say that women there average at around 5'3" and wear a North American 4 or 6.

Pictures of the shoes coming soon.

Small sizes and sales

Alterations Needed has an interesting post on small sizes and sales - usually the very smallest can never find anything more than 30% off. This is true, at least in my neck of the woods. I could never understand what people are talking about when they say that they see tons of sizes 00 to 2 on sale racks. This certainly isn't the case in Toronto (or in New York, for that matter). The most sizes I see generally range between 4 and 10.

Is this the case with your area? Or can you find really small sizes fairly easily, even on sale?

Cute Shoes!

Thought I'd share with you a pair of shoes I recently purchased. They are from Brown's Shoes, a chain of stores in Canada which sells brands that carry size 5 (Stuart Weitzman, MICHAEL Michael Kors as well as their house brands). The shoes, which are from Brown's ID line come in multi-coloured (above) or black. The smallest size is 5 and they go up to size 11. I'm generally very conservative when it comes to shoes. I think these shoes are the first pair that have more than two colours!
Brown's is one of the few stores where I KNOW that I can find shoes in my size. At many other places, I often feel uncomfortable asking for sizes because I don't want to be disappointed....or looked at funny.
The shoes above and others are available for purchase at Brown's Shoes stores and online.

A little thing goes a long way with o.b.

o.b. ToGo PursePack

o.b. is petite, but just like you, it isn't meek, either. In fact, it's fierce, hip and environmentally friendly. At around two inches long, these babies work extremely well and are very comfortable. They come in a variety of different absorbancies, including regular (this one is actually just UNDER two inches long!) and super. You can even get them in the petite o.b. ToGo PursePack, small enough for the tiniest of evening bags.
