Some Loves from Anthropologie

I find that Anthropologie's clothes can be hits and misses.  Some are a little too artsy/crazy for me or the patterns are too bold/big and overwhelm my frame.  However, there are always a few items that I fall in love with, such as:

This  skirt was first posted a couple of days ago in my Tired of Pencil Skirts! post.  Not only is it available is it NOT a pencil skirt, but it is also available in the full petite range (yay!).  I think this skirt paired with a shorter cardigan (so hard to find good lengths when you're petite!), tights and kitten heels can look absolutely MAGNIFICENT.

Yeah, I know, a little plain here, but don't you think it could look pretty nice with the above skirt? Or paired with a simple pair of jeans and ruffly top?

This could look AMAZING paired with leggings or skinny jeans. I'd probably have to try it on before purchasing it though as the patterns might be too big for petite me!

OK, this one is cheating.  I bought this sweater back in the fall and really love the length on me.  I often wear this with darker coloured, non-skinny pants (sometimes black, sometimes dark-dark blue).  The sweater isn't available online anymore, though you might still be able to find it in stores.  I wanted to get a second one in the Oatmeal, but XS was sold out at the store closest to me.

Tired of Pencil Skirts!

Preen Line Jenny Stretch Cotton Skirt

Who is sick and tired of the pencil skirt?  They've been "in" for the past couple of years and many petite women look great in them, yes, but there are just so many around!  I really want to see a return of the A-line.  They're just as lovely, and I think flirtier looking in many ways.  Right now, I have at least four pencil skirts in my closet, two which are black (if you include the lace H&M skirt that many petite bloggers bought).  I don't think I'm going to buy any more.  I have enough to last me through the cold weather (three are winter-friendly) and am hoping that more work-appopriate non-pencil skirts will hit the market in the next couple of months (ok, there are definitely some for a very business casual environment, such as the Anthropologie skirt below, but I have yet to see plain, suit/separates appropriate ones in stores or catalogues).



To note:  I am also tired of jeggings and skinny jeans.  I'm NOT buying any more (though I'll continue to wear them, just like pencil skirts)  Glad to see more boot cut and wider-legged jeans for Spring/Summer 2011.

When Petites Aren't Available Online...

Alterations Needed recently wrote about a Banana Republic cardigan she tried on at a store.  The colour she wanted, navy blue, was available in petites at the store, but the size was a little too big for her.  She therefore decided to go home and purchase the sweater online.  However, that did not happen as blue was not available in petite sizes.  Turns out that they didn't make blue for online sales in petites.  This happened to me recently as well.  I saw the embellished sweater jacket (above) in an XSP and tried it on.  It was a little bit big on me, so I decided to wait and see if it was available in XXSP on the US site.  Went home, logged on to my computer and lo and behold, it wasn't even available in petites AT ALL.  HUH?  I thought online stores were supposed to have more choices.  Guess I was wrong. 

Banana Republic Size 00P Solid V-Neck Tie Dress

Recently bought from the store...I read in various reviews that the dress fit small, and was prepared to go up to 0P.  However, the 00P fit quite nicely!

Banana Republic Petites: More Selection in Toronto?

Seriously! I was recently in New York City and went into the large Banana flagship at Rockefeller Center. Though it seems that there's more space for petites, I found the selection there to be lacking. Half the space seemed to be sale items. The spaces in the Toronto Bloor Street and Eaton Centre stores are smaller, but there seems to be more choice (and a smaller sale section). I saw a dress available here, but was nowhere to be found in Manhattan, at least not at the Rockefeller or Lexington stores. Perhaps there are just more petite women who buy Banana Republic in Toronto (I'm not sure if there are more petite women, period here, compared to New York, though) or maybe there are more stores in New York (with a limited number of petite sizes) and therefore they need to spread the clothes to more places? That still doesn't really explain the large sale section, though.
