Three Things I Want But Won't Get....Yet

Everyone's coming out with their Christmas wish lists, some with ones that are realistic, while others (like me!) with items that they could only dream of getting right now (either because it's out of price range or because the aren't available yet).  I also have a TRUE UNREALISTIC wish list (which includes world peace and an end to several reality shows (NOT What not to Wear, though) and annoying celebs on TV and film), but for now, my top three items are:

1. A new camera.  I cover a lot of events, and while a "real" DSLR would be nice, as a petite person, I don't like hauling a lot of heavy equipment with me.  My typical Fashion Week kit (usually a tote bag or laptop bag) includes a camera (currently a Sony DSC-H50 (a "bridge" camera), my netbook, my Blackberry, a wallet and some make-up.  It can actually get quite heavy - I think I almost pulled something last time!  Am completely undecided as to which camera I really want - there are like three or four on my final list.

2. A tablet computer (this would lighten my Fashion Week kit a little) like RIM's Playbook (I don't like the current version of the iPad.  No USB port = unable to upload pics from camera to a website if I'm at an event).  Unfortunately, the Playbook won't be under my Christmas tree, even if someone wants to splurge on me since it's not going to launch until some time in 2011.

3. Louboutins!!!  Simple looking ones, of course.  Again, not going to be under my tree, but I usually get money from relatives, so I might be able to get something before Chinese New Year.

Readers, what is on YOUR not-so-realistic wishlist?

My New Tripod!

I've had my Shorty Stories blog for a few years now, and for a long time, I either relied on other people to take my picture or had to place the camera on a stool, bookshelf or some other high surface to get somewhat decent shots.  Well, I don't have to do this anymore!  I recently purchased my first tripod which was on sale at a photo printing place for $19.95.  With a tripod, I am hoping that my pictures will be a little better - and that I can shoot in areas in my apartment other than the piano and kitchen.

Next blog-related purchase?  A better camera (I really want those compact interchangable lense cameras like Sony's NEX cameras) as well as a Photoshop seminar I plan to take will hopefully help!
