Banana Republic Petites: More Selection in Toronto?
Seriously! I was recently in New York City and went into the large Banana flagship at Rockefeller Center. Though it seems that there's more space for petites, I found the selection there to be lacking. Half the space seemed to be sale items. The spaces in the Toronto Bloor Street and Eaton Centre stores are smaller, but there seems to be more choice (and a smaller sale section). I saw a dress available here, but was nowhere to be found in Manhattan, at least not at the Rockefeller or Lexington stores. Perhaps there are just more petite women who buy Banana Republic in Toronto (I'm not sure if there are more petite women, period here, compared to New York, though) or maybe there are more stores in New York (with a limited number of petite sizes) and therefore they need to spread the clothes to more places? That still doesn't really explain the large sale section, though.

Moi-Même's Fall 2008 Collection
Moi-Même, a New York based, very petite-friendly custom-tailoring company recently announced its fall line. They include new dresses, pants, skirts and jackets, all which are custom fitted to your specific size! The new intros include:

Tokyo Sheath: This beautiful short sleeved sheath reminds me of the dresses in period dramas...think Maggie Cheung's character in In the Mood for Love or Mad Men's Joan Holloway. The dress is very versatile. Add a jacket or cardigan and you're ready for the office. Without the jacket and you're ready for a dinner party at a nice restaurant. The dress is $320 in Tissu and $440 in Luxe.

The Calgary Jacket - This two-buttoned jacket has an embroidered design at the waist and open-slit sleeves. Pair it with a skirt, a pair of pants or a suit dress and you're ready for that big meeting with the clients. The jacket is $360 in Tissu and $480 in Luxe
