Some Pictures of my Christmas Meals

We had lunch at a suburban Chinese restaurant and boy was that place packed.  Chinese Canadians like going out to celebrate the holidays, especially during lunch.  Though we got there early, it was still quite busy.  At times we had to remind the servers that we still had items missing.  I think the only time these places get any crazier is the first day of Chinese New Year!

Ha Gow (shrimp dumplings)

In case you're wondering, we were at Regal Palace in Richmond Hill.  For those who're unfamiliar with Toronto, the Markham-Richmond Hill area, especially along Highway 7, are filled with restaurants, malls and other businesses catering to the Asian (or more specifically, Cantonese-speaking) communities.  Unlike old Chinatown, the places are clean and well....suburban-like.  There's pretty good petite-friendly shopping too, if you want things cheap (and not amazing quality).

The turkey, up close

Later Christmas evening, I hosted Christmas Dinner for my parents for the first time (above).  It was just the four of us, so we didn't bother to make a whole bird.  Instead, I made turkey tenderloins and potatoes, "stuffing" (made on the stove, loosely based on this recipe), sauteed peppers and salad.  I'd say that it was successful!
