The former temporary Chanel boutique just east of the corner of Bloor and Avenue Road in Toronto sat empty since Chanel's move back to its regular location across the street. However, things pretty much changed overnight last week. Pink signs saying "LookFab" went up, and I couldn't, for the life of me, figure out what it was all about. I guess they wanted to keep people suspicious.
LookFab Moments finally opened on Tuesday, April 15 and I was able to visit it yesterday, two days after it opened. LookFab is a two week beauty event created by the people of Procter & Gamble (Olay, Crest, Covergirl, etc...) for women who want tips on, well, looking fabulous! When you arrive, you're given a booklet and a shopping bag, where you can store your free gifts. The booklet is divided into four sections, one for each station they have in the store. The first stop for me was skincare, where advice was given on keeping your skin (other than the face) looking amazing. Free gift: shower gel and a Venus Embrace razor. This razor is the first women's razor with five blades.
Normally, the next two stations are for face care and make-up, but both were packed. My group was therefore led to haircare. I'm very much a wash-and-go kind of girl, so I didn't really have many questions. One tip the girl at the counter gave was to avoid heavy shampoos and conditioners if you feel that your hair is loosing its shape/bounce.
The last two stations for my group involved the face. First was face care. Wash, toning and moisturizing daily and exfo weekly is part of my routine, and until then, I thought everyone did it. One woman next to me said that she pretty much only washes with a moisturizing cleanser and doesn't do other steps. Each woman was suggested a routine and given names of products to try. One interesting product that she brought up was a mousse cleanser. Without reading the label, I thought it was a haircare product!
The last stop was make-up. Covergirl recently launched a foundation, TruBlend, that is advertised as actually "merging" with your skin for most people (including me, surprisingly! Usually, Covergirl foundations and powders are too pink for most East Asian skintones.) The "Tru" collection not only includes the lightweight foundation above, but also powder, a mousse foundation, concealer and blush. We were given the new Lashblast mascara as a gift (this mascara is available in both waterproof and regular), a good change from the usual lip products that most companies give out.
I had a good time at LookFab Moments. The visit, including the introduction and stops at all four stations took at most 40 minutes, and that was with lots of women at several of the counters! I encourage everyone to try it out! :)
LookFab Moments will be at 250 Bloor Street West in Toronto until April 30, 2008.
