Recently, I posted a question on the fashion forum, The Fashion Spot, asking how a designer specializing in non-standard sizes (i.e. both petite and plus) should get the media's attention. So far, only one person has actually given a suggestion, another who agreed with me that it's rather difficult (and one odd person who didn't quite understand where I was coming from, who even said that he/she has never heard of people getting flack for specializing in certain sizes. If anything, they'd probably be applauded). What would you do? What's the best way to convince the fashion media that it's, as one poster said, still about visual balance, color, texture, shape and knowing what's in style and what flatters various types of bodies?
By the way, the Shorty Stories is STILL giving away tickets to The Clothing Show, which happens May 2 to May 4 in Toronto! Just e-mail me with the correct answer to one of the questions and you (and a friend) will have your name on the Guest List! Please contact me no later than APRIL 30. Thanks :)
